Character Story
Act 1:
It’s
the afternoon outside the palace gates, a few cars can be heard zipping by
along with the faint sound of chirping birds. As we look at this scene we can
see the main character(Gina) standing on the sidewalk to the right of the gate,
and a palace guard standing opposite of her to the right of the gate. Without
looking at the guard, Gina starts to side shuffle walk her way in the direction
of the guard. She inches closer and closer until she is right next o him, then
without warning she lets out an enormous yell with arms flailing in an attempt
to get a rise out of the guard. After this Gina does a little hop of excitement
and anticipation looking for the guard’s reaction, but nothing. Then with a
menacing look she stomps off.
Act 2:
The
palace guard stand alone outside the gate. From the right approaches Gina. She
walks into frame with a relaxed and carefree stroll, there is almost a bounce
in her step. She reaches the guard, darts her eyes back and forth at him, then
out of nowhere Gina pulls out two symbols from behind her back and bangs them
together in front of the guard’s face, but still he is undeterred. She leaves
in frustration. The guard stands alone, but this time Gina appears from behind
his back and over his shoulder. She holds a big balloon in one hand and sharp
pin in the other. With a stern face she pops it right in front of him, but
still nothing. Cut to new scene of the guard standing alone, but here comes
Gina walking on the gate like a tightrope, but still no reaction. She hops off
the gate with a tired look, but before going her face lights up as if there was
one last hope.
Act 3:
The
final attempt. The guard stands alone, enter Gina. This time Gina looks a
little different, dressed in a torn shall, crutch in one hand, and looking a
little down. She stands next to the guard holding a hat out as if asking for
money. People walk by handing her coins but the guard nothing from the guard.
With a final look of annoyed exhaustion Gina starts to head off, but the guards
arm quickly puts something in her hat. She grabs it as fast as she could and
sees that it is a note. She unfolds it as it reads “better luck tomorrow, Love
Dad”. She then hugs him tightly. The camera pans up to the guards face and the
only thing that moves is a smile.
